NBA Power Rankings: Nets have life with return of Kyrie Irving

Sports Illustrated has released its weekly NBA Power Rankings with the Bucks and Lakers sitting at No. 1 and 2. The interesting takeaways, however, come from the rest of the Eastern Conference. The Celtics sit at third in the rankings. Much of that has to do with the three stars leading the way for Boston in Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker. The Celtics right now are the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Oddly enough, if the NBA playoffs started today, the Celtics would be matched up against their former point guard Kyrie Irving and the Nets, who would be the No. 7 seed. Irving made his return to the court on Sunday night and looked the part shooting 10-11 from the field and scoring 21 points. Irving being back in the fold can only be good for the Nets. SI’s Robin Lundberg fantasizes about the potential playoff matchup if it were to happen.
