The pursuit for the NBA rookie of the year award has become a two-man race between Ja Morant and Zion Williamson. The deciding factor may not be their individual talents, but rather team success. Morant currently has the Grizzlies as the eighth seed in the Western Conference and has played the majority of the season. Williamson has only played 17 games but has been the driving force behind the Pelicans' surge up the standings. SI’s Robin Lundberg makes the case that the last playoff spot in the West could decide who holds the trophy.
