According to the Boston Globe, hundreds of part-time ushers for Boston’s TD Garden were laid off due to the coronavirus pandemic. This was just days after the owners of the Boston Bruins established a $1.5 million dollar fund for the Bruins and TD garden employees who are impacted by the shutdown. According to the Globe a letter sent to the employees told employees they, “will not be scheduled until the conditions at our unit allows us to resume normal operations. As this situation is rapidly evolving, we will continue to update you with the anticipated date that we will resume business. We hope to provide as much notice as possible.”The letter went on to say that employees may be eligible for unemployment and that those in charge of TD Garden hoped the changes would be “short-lived.” There is no timetable when operations will resume back to normalcy.
