This Day in Sports History: Magic Johnson Starts his First Finals Game

Los Angeles Lakers rookie Magic Johnson burst onto the NBA scene, and nearly posted a triple-double in his first Finals game.

On May 4th, 1980, Magic Johnson started his first NBA Finals game for the Los Angeles Lakers. Johnson quickly proved he belonged, posting 16 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds, falling one board shy of a triple-double.
