NBA: Gordon Hayward agreed to a 4 year, $120 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets

Former Celtics All-Star heads to Charlotte on a large 4-year deal

Gordon Hayward one of the biggest names on the NBA’s free-agency market, is heading to Charlotte. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Hayward agreed to a four-year, $120 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets. This news comes after Hayward opted out of his $34.2 million dollar deal for the 2020-21 season with the Boston Celtics.

Hayward was an all-star in his final season with the Utah Jazz in 2016-17 but has since struggled to remain healthy. He missed 111 games during three seasons with the Celtics and most recently suffered a right ankle injury that cost him most of the playoffs. The 6 foot 7" offensive player will now take his talents to Charlotte where the Hornets hope he can serve as a lead playmaker.
