Jimmy Butler Suddenly Downgraded for Warriors vs Heat
When the day started, Jimmy Butler was listed as probable against the Golden State Warriors due to a non-COVID illness. Now, it looks like that status has changed.
The Miami Heat have officially downgraded Jimmy Butler to out against the Golden State Warriors due to an illness. The Heat already have Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez, Kevin Love, and Duncan Robinson all listed on the injury report as well. Without Butler, the team will be severely shorthanded against the Golden State Warriors.
This season, Jimmy Butler is averaging 21.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.4 steals on 50/42/86 shooting. His shooting from the three-point line has increased tremendously, especially considering his career average of 33%. Butler hasn't faced the Golden State Warriors yet this season, but that didn't stop Miami from taking the last game 114-102.
Without Jimmy Butler available, it's beyond pivotal that the Golden State Warriors take advantage tonight. If Golden State loses tonight, they'll be tied with the Houston Rockets for 11th seed and be in legitimate trouble of being out of the play-in tournament. Conversely, it's incredibly important for the Miami Heat to win tonight as well. The Heat are only one game from being the 6th seed and making it out of the play-in tournament, but they're also only half a game from potentially dropping to the 9th seed. Both teams have something huge to play for.
The Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat face off at 7:30 p.m. EST tonight.
