Anthony Davis's Updated Injury Status for Warriors vs. Lakers
When the Los Angeles Lakers released their injury report for Saturday night's game vs. the Golden State Warriors, Anthony Davis was listed as probable with bilateral achilles tendinopathy. Davis started the game, but exited before halftime with a corneal abrasion. The Lakers have since ruled him out for the remainder of the game.
This is a massive game between two teams battling for positioning in the Western Conference standings. The Warriors are trying to overtake the Lakers for 9th, which wouldn't improve their positioning in the play-in bracket, but would give them the 9th vs. 10th game at home.
For the Lakers, they not only want to hold off the Warriors, but they want to run down a top-eight seed if at all possible. Finishing 7th or 8th would give the Lakers two games to win one in the play-in tournament, whereas the 9th and 10th seeds need to win back-to-back games in order to make the playoffs.
The Warriors are still holding out hope that they can make a push for 8th, but that became much less likely with their recent loss to the Dallas Mavericks. That said, Golden State still has two games remaining vs. Dallas, which will both be must-win games if Golden State wants any chance at overtaking them for 8th.
Needless to say, a lot rides on this Lakers vs. Warriors game on Saturday.
