BREAKING: Warriors Make Trade With Indiana Pacers
While it certainly was not the big move many were anticipating, the Golden State Warriors have reportedly made a trade deadline deal, sending Cory Joseph to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for a second round pick. The deal was first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
This move clears a roster spot for the Warriors that they will likely use in the buyout market. Who Golden State plans to target with this open roster spot remains to be seen, but Joseph did not play well this season, and likely would not have been in their rotation much at all going forward.
Unless a deal gets reported late, it seems this is the only trade deadline move the Warriors are making. This is definitely surprising when considering where the Warriors sit in the standings, currently in 11th place. That said, there is optimism within the team that they have begun to figure things out a bit, and can make a run in the second half of the season.
With limited assets, and no perfect trade partner, the Warriors mostly stay put at the deadline in hopes that they have enough in their locker room right now to turn this season around. It’s a big risk, but one the Warriors are taking with faith in Steph Curry and the rest of the core.
