Dwyane Wade Places Steph Curry in All-Time Starting Five
When asked by GQ Sports for his all-time starting five, NBA Hall-of-Fame inductee Dwyane Wade named Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry as his point guard. Going with Curry at the one, Wade rounded out his starting five with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Shaquille O'Neal. Wade said his lineup would beat anybody, and it's hard to argue that.
While the Curry vs. Magic Johnson debate is always contentious, the Warriors star does seem to be the more ideal fit for this starting group. With his shooting ability and gravity, Curry could play off the ball next to James, who could serve as the primary ball-handler while Curry stays in constant motion. Also with a non-shooting threat in Shaq, including the greatest shooter of all time at the one would make the most sense.
Wade's all-time five seems to be somewhat of a common answer as Curry climbs up the ranks, because while Magic was once considered the indisputable greatest point guard ever, Curry has at a minimum closed that gap with his accomplishments over the last several seasons. If Curry has not already overtaken Magic as the greatest point guard ever, he is certainly right there, and projects to continue building his case over the next several seasons.
These debates are always fun, especially during this point in the offseason, and Wade's starting five would undoubtedly be a force.
