Golden State Warriors Could Reportedly Trade Star Player
One of the bigger developments for the Golden State Warriors this season has been the complicated dynamic between Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins. With the two players bringing a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses, Steve Kerr has typically tried to keep them separated, which only leaves so many minutes for one or the other.
Breaking this all down in a recent article, Tim Kawakami of The Athletic went through all of the possibilities, including the increased possibility of Wiggins being traded.
"Side note: Though I’ve said in the past that the Warriors might be reluctant to trade Wiggins so soon after he signed a relatively bargain-rate contract extension specifically so he could remain with this team, I’ve since heard that this would not be a major barrier for the Warriors to explore Wiggins’ trade market," Kawakami wrote. "Especially if he can’t play with Kuminga and the Warriors decide that Kuminga is their full-time small forward."
While this of course does not mean that Wiggins will be dealt, is does seem as if the possibility is much more open now than it has been at any point since Wiggins was an All-Star for the Warriors.
This will certainly be a situation to monitor, especially if the Warriors continue to disappoint with their record. The trade deadline could be active for Golden State.
