Golden State Warriors Make New Hire
The Golden State Warriors have hired former NBA player Chuck Hayes to be their new Director of Basketball Operations according to Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle.
Hayes played 10 seasons in the NBA as an undersized power forward that still managed to be one of the better defenders of his era. Hayes played 7 seasons with the Houston Rockets, three seasons with the Sacramento Kings, and two seasons with the Toronto Raptors; his NBA career spanned from 2005-2016. While Hayes may be known for his free throw shooting, his defense remains incredibly underrated.
After playing for 10 seasons in the NBA, Hayes moved onto a coaching role, spending several seasons with the Denver Nuggets as an assistant coach and player development coach. Afterward, he joined the Houston Rockets as a scout, where he's spent the last few seasons and became a beloved figure with fans.
The Warriors aren't in the midst of an entirely new front-office regime, but there still is a significant change with Mike Dunleavy Jr. taking over Bob Myers' role as GM. While there won't be a massive shakeup since Dunleavy has been promoted from within, there will likely be new hires in addition to Chuck Hayes.
With the additions of Hayes, Dunleavy Jr., and Chirs Paul, the Golden State Warriors will definitely be an interesting team to watch this upcoming season. Whether they'll be a success or bust remains to be seen.
