In his first game off the bench since 2012, Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson had a huge night. Reaching 15,000 career points in this game, Thompson became the 6th player in Warriors history to reach that mark.

The Warriors nearly blew another big lead in the fourth quarter of this game, but were able to survive the late push from Utah to enter the All-Star break with a win. This game was huge not only for momentum reasons, but for the standings as well. Utah entered this game as the team right behind Golden State in the standings, which made this a huge matchup.

While this was not a pretty win for the Warriors, it's one they needed. Led by Thompson, the Warriors got 35 points from their new bench guard, who should have an opportunity to really find himself in this new role in the second half.

The Warriors know they need Thompson to contribute at a high level if they are going to reach their ultimate goal this season, and that can come as a starter or off the bench. While Thompson came off the bench in this game, he was in the closing lineup, which hasn't always been the case even in games he has started.

Coming up big in his first game off the bench in over a decade, Thompson helped lead the Warriors to a big win.
