In a time when false information is more prevalent than ever, it can be hard to tell the difference between legitimate news and something that was posted by a fake account that bought a verification check. The rise of fake accounts posing as legitimate news outlets has been especially prevalent on Twitter, which is why Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves initially thought the Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors trade was fake.

To Reaves' credit, his initial reaction is one that will help keep him from falling for fake reports when they do pop up. To initially suspect news like that to be made up is a completely justified reaction in this day and age, as the prevalence of misinformation is more common than ever.

In addition to the prevalence of these fake accounts, the news that Chris Paul has been traded to the Warriors was something that felt too wild to be true anyways. Paul has been rival of the Warriors for a long time, dating back to his days with the LA Clippers and Houston Rockets. Add in the departure of Jordan Poole, and it definitely makes sense why Reaves was shocked that such a deal could actually be true.

While the Chris Paul trade makes more sense now than it did initially, it's still somewhat surprising, and likely won't feel real until he plays his first game in Golden State.
