LeBron James Reacts to Warriors Exploring Trade for Him
It was reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne that the Golden State Warriors explored the possibility of trading for LeBron James prior to the trade deadline. According to this report, the Los Angeles Lakers star was not interested in being dealt, which is why talks didn't go anywhere.
Speaking with the NBA on TNT crew prior to the All-Star game, James reacted to Golden State exploring a trade for him, saying the news didn't reach him until the report dropped.
"It didn't go far at all,” James said. “I actually heard about it when everybody else heard about it. Obviously Charles been in the league, Kenny been in the league, Shaq been in the league, and sometimes there's conversations that happen behind closed doors that you don't even know about. Until, I guess, if it's real or not, then they'll bring it to you. But it never even got to me, so I heard it when the reports dropped as well.”
This is interesting to hear from James, since the initial report made it seem as if he was briefed on the possibility, and was not interested. Regardless of how the situation went down, James was of course ultimately not dealt, and will remain with the Lakers for the rest of this season - at a minimum.
