NBA Admits Missed Call in Warriors vs. Spurs Game
The Golden State Warriors held off the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, winning by a final score of 118-112 after leading by as many as 18. While this wasn't the most convincing win for Golden State, it's one they'll certainly take, as it was in danger of getting away from them in the final minutes.
The NBA has released their Last Two Minute Report for this game, and it includes one missed call that could have really swung the game had the Spurs followed it with a score. With just under one minute remaining in the game, Warriors guard Gary Payton II lost the ball out of bounds, but the NBA has since determined that he dribbled it off Cedi Osman's foot, which should have kept possession with Golden State.
The Spurs did not score after wrongfully being awarded possession, so the missed call was ultimately inconsequential, but it was a big one at the time. With it being just a four point game when Payton lost the ball out of bounds, a score from San Antonio would have made it a one possession contest.
For the Warriors, they need all the wins they can get at this point, but going down to the wire with the Spurs was not something they planned on doing - especially after leading by as many as 18.
