NBA Breaks Silence on Draymond Green's Choking Ejection
Draymond Green is without a doubt, the most controversial player in the NBA today. Every season, he finds a new way to set a new high on the court and last night against the Timberwolves, his chokehold of Rudy Gobert set a new bar.
Once Green choked Gobert on the court, NBA referees immediately ejected him from the game. After the game, officials revealed why Green was given a flagrant two after the altercation.
"He aggressively put Gobert in a headlock and refuses to let go," Crew Chief Tyler Ford said. "This is unnecessary and excessive conduct which meets the standard for a flagrant foul penalty 2."
Green wasn't the only player to get ejected in the game between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves. Both Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels were also ejected, which officials also gave a reason for as well.
"Both players were involved in an altercation that didn’t immediately dissolve and their actions warranted an ejection," Tyler Ford said.
One person who didn't get ejected in the massive altercation was Rudy Gobert. If anyone thought Gobert was an instigator in the situation, NBA officials immediately put that thought to rest in their explanation.
"Gobert was attempting to separate Thompson and McDaniels and was ruled to be a peacemaker," Tyler Ford said. "We reviewed all other players and acts and no other unsportsmanlike acts were observed."
It remains to be seen if Draymond Green gets a suspension for his actions, but it shouldn't surprise anyone. At some point, the NBA needs to send a stern message toward his actions.
