NBA Sparks Controversy with Warriors vs. Thunder Mistake

The NBA's Last Two Minute Report is sparking controversy

The NBA's Last Two Minute Report from the Golden State Warriors vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game includes only one missed call, and it was Steph Curry's travel in overtime; however, there is another play on the injury report that has been sparking controversy.

Prior to Draymond Green's foul on Chet Holmgren that led to three game-tying free throws, the NBA says the ball was not inbounded within five seconds.

"Williams (OKC) does not release the in-bounds pass within 5 seconds," the NBA wrote.

While this was the league's description for that play, seemingly admitting a missed call, they also put "CNC" for their review decision, which means correct non-call. With these contradictory descriptions, the NBA either meant to put "INC" for incorrect non call, or they meant to say that Williams did release the ball in time.

This has understandably been controversial, because not only was it the biggest play of the game, but the NBA has caused a lot of confusion with their description. When reviewing a slow motion replay of the inbound pass, it's very hard to see if it was indeed a five second violation, as Williams releases the ball almost simultaneously to the official's fifth extension of his arm. 

One way or another, the NBA should clarify this on their Last Two Minute Report, as it currently contains contradictory information on that crucial play.
