Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Makes History vs. Warriors
The Golden State Warriors and OKC Thunder played an overtime thriller on Saturday night, with OKC handing Golden State their 6th-straight loss. Steph Curry returned from injury in this game, but it was Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who stole the show, finishing with 40 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Adding two steals and two blocks to his impressive line, Gilgeous-Alexander became the first player in Thunder history to tally at least 40 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals while shooting at least 60% from the field in a single game.
Even if the criteria were reduced to only include blocks and not steals, it's just Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook who have achieved that line. Both Westbrook and Durant have certain performances that also stand alone in Thunder history, so this showing from Gilgeous-Alexander is definitely not the greatest the franchise has ever seen, but this combination of volume and efficiency is the only of its kind in a Thunder uniform.
To put this performance in perspective, Gilgeous-Alexander is the first player since Nikola Jokic to post the stat line he had today in single game. Jokic did it last season, and before him it had not been done since LeBron James in 2021. Continuing to cement himself as one of the very best players in the league, Gilgeous-Alexander was special in this one.
