Steve Kerr Gives Honest Assessment of Team USA Basketball

Steve Kerr reveals the strengths and weaknesses of Team USA.

Team USA may be undefeated at 4-0 in the FIBA World Cup right now, but it's still a team that has its flaws - no one knows this better than head coach Steve Kerr.

Kerr spoke with reporters yesterday where he gave a very candid assessment of Team USA's weaknesses.

"The concern is turnovers and rebounds," Kerr said. "If we stay even on the possession game, I feel great about our chances against anybody. The way teams can beat us is if they get extra possessions and force a lot of turnovers and we're not sharp and we're not boxing out. And I've told our guys that. ... It's not really a secret."

Despite being critical of Team USA's flaws, Kerr is still incredibly happy with the undefeated group. When there's not much time to come together, stability matters more than anything, and that stability is something Team USA has.

"It's so hard because you only have a couple weeks and then you jump right into the tournament," Kerr said. "So I like the stability of that [starting] group."

Coaching Team USA during both the FIBA World Cup and the Olympics is a very unenviable task. Everyone expects America to win, but if they don't win, it's considered an absolute embarrassment and failure. It's one of the most high-pressure and least rewarding jobs an NBA coach could take.
