Steve Kerr Reacts to Team USA's Shocking Loss to Germany

USA Basketball has been eliminated from FIBA World Cup gold medal contention

Suffering a shocking defeat to Germany on Friday, USA Basketball was eliminated from gold medal contention in this summer's FIBA World Cup. Golden State Warriors and Team USA head coach Steve Kerr addressed the media after the game, and shared his honest reaction to the loss.

"The game has been globalized over the last 30 years," Kerr said via BasketNews. "These games are difficult. This is not 1992 anymore. Players are better all over the world. Teams are better. It's not easy to win the World Cup or the Olympics."

On the game itself, Kerr added, "Congrats to Germany, they were fantastic and deserved the win. Every time we made a run, they had a big shot or got an offensive board and made a big play. They did what they had to do. I'm really proud of the guys, they were courageous throughout the game. But we just couldn't get there," Kerr spoke about the game."

While Kerr is correct about the talent surge around the world, it's easy to feel that Team USA would have performed much better had they sent their best players. That said, the team they sent had plenty of talent, and was outplayed by Germany. This is a disappointing loss for Team USA, who will now have an opportunity to play for a bronze medal.
