Steve Kerr Reveals New Plan for Warriors Lineup
As the Golden State Warriors look to finish the regular season strong, head coach Steve Kerr is altering his rotation a bit to help the team win games while also preparing different players for the postseason.
Speaking on this dynamic after Golden State's win over the Milwaukee Bucks, Kerr revealed his new lineup plan going forward, which includes an increased role for Trayce Jackson-Davis.
"It’s hard to play 11 [players]," Kerr said. "I know we’ve been playing 11, but if we’re going to ramp Trayce’s minutes up, then it’s more likely going to be 10. We’ll just try to mix and match, but we feel like we’ve found some combinations... We've got a pretty big sample size of the different combinations out there."
On Kevon Looney, who will likely have his minutes reduced as a result of Jackson-Davis's increased role, Kerr said, "We’re going to need Loon in the playoffs. There’s going to be matchups where we need him. I know I can trust him, but we got to get Trayce more minutes to get him ready for the playoffs, because he needs reps, he needs more time."
Kerr added, "You can see what [Jackson-Davis] did tonight, he has an ability to finish and to block shots that gives us a different look. We decided to ramp up his minutes and slide Moses kind of into a bigger role as well. Those guys were both fantastic tonight, I thought.
