Top NBA Analyst Slams Klay Thompson
There's no way around it, Klay Thompson is struggling this season. In moments where he's struggled the most, he hasn't quite handled it well during postgame interviews, most recently after the Sacramento Kings game.
ESPN analyst, Stephen A. Smith, gave a very harsh reaction to Thompson's postgame interview. He absolutely slammed Klay and the All-Star should start caring more about his struggles.
"Maybe you should start caring, how about that Klay," Smith questioned. "I would challenge anybody on the planet, I can look Klay Thompson dead in the face, I challenge anybody on the planet that would find a bigger fan of Klay Thompson than me. I've been raving about this dude for years. You're a top 5 shooter on the planet, on the planet."
For as much as Stephen A. Smith slammed Klay Thompson, he also gave Klay his praise. Still, it doesn't change the fact that Klay is averaging 15 points on 40/36/87 shooting. These are numbers far below his career average and are an actual reason why the Warriors have a losing record.
"This is one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, but that ain't what you've been looking," Smith said. "You're averaging 15 points a game. Klay Thompson, who religiously shoots better than 40% from three throughout his career, is shooting 40% from the field, 36% from three-point range. By the way, that's an improvement, you've been playing like hot trash. That is the bottom line. We expect better from Klay Thompson. We know how good of a champion he is."
If there's one person critics should never count out, it's Klay Thompson. The season is young, and there's still plenty of time to prove the critics wrong.
