Warriors Announce Major Draymond Green Injury Update
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green missed the entire preseason with a sprained ankle, but the team announced on Sunday afternoon that he has progressed to five-on-five work, which is a major development. In their announcement, the Warriors wrote the following:
"Warriors forward Draymond Green, who suffered a sprained left ankle during off-season workouts and missed all five (5) of the team's preseason games, continues to make good progress. He has been cleared to begin practicing with the team (5-on-5) and his return to game action will be based on his continued progress as he works his way into game-like condition."
Based upon this update, it seems Green could be ready for opening night, which would be huge for the Warriors. His opening night status has been in question since the injury was first announced, but progressing to five-on-five work indicates that a return is getting closer.
Green is integral to what the Warriors do on offense and defense, and while they have not had an opportunity to get him in game action with Chris Paul, there should not be too much of a learning curve for two of the smartest players in the game. If Golden State does have Green available on opening night, it will be very interesting to see what starting lineup they go with after trying out different combinations in the preseason.
