Victor Wembanyama's Status vs. Golden State Warriors Revealed
The San Antonio Spurs are facing the Golden State Warriors on Sunday evening, and star rookie Victor Wembanyama is not listed on the injury report, meaning he is available to play. San Antonio has won three straight games, and has been playing much better basketball recently. Wembanyama is of course a big reason for that, as he continues to put up historic stat lines on seemingly a nightly basis.
The Spurs are not headed to the postseason, but they are hoping to build some momentum in the final weeks of the regular season that can carry over into next year. This has to be the focus for a team like the Spurs, because going from a lottery team to a playoff contender is not an overnight process. Understanding this, the Spurs hope the foundation of a playoff team can be built this season and ultimately carry over into next year.
As for Golden State, they are desperately trying to hold onto the 10th seed in the Western Conference, as the Houston Rockets remain in pursuit of that spot. While San Antonio has been playing much better as of late, they are still one of the easier opponents on Golden State's schedule from here on out, and certainly a team the Warriors should beat.
With some tough games coming up, Golden State will look to take advantage of this matchup against one of the bottom teams in the league. It will not be easy, but the Warriors have been locked in themselves, entering this game on a three-game winning streak.
