Both the Washington Wizards and Miami Heat came into this game desperate for an opportunity to get back into the win column. The Miami Heat would hold the lead and be victorious with a 121-114 win over the Washington Wizards.

The first half of this game both teams shot very well (Heat 60%, Wizards 56%). They seemed evenly matched in most areas but the Wizards would finish the half with 11 turnovers which in each instance, the Miami Heat would maximize the opportunity.

Third quarter it looked obvious that the game had gotten completely away from the Wizards. Headed into the fourth quarter, Wizards head coach Wes Unseld Jr made a decision to pull the starters and give the young core some minutes. Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra also pulled his starters.

That’s when things started to get interesting.

In for the Wizards were Bilal Coulibaly, Ryan Rollins, Johnny Davis, Anthony Gill, and Eugene Omoruyi. If only for a moment, it appeared this group would attempt to make a comeback going on a 15-0 run to bring the score within ten. The Wizards starters were on their feet and showing their excitement for the young group.

That’s when Coach Spoelstra had his starters re-enter the game to finish the deal.

The Wizards come up short and now sit at 1 (against Memphis Grizzlies)-4 (Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, and Miami Heat) on the season. Despite the loss, what we learned is that the Wizards have a set of gritty young players that will try to maximize their opportunities as much as possible.
