Wizards 2-0 On The 2023 Preseason With Comeback Victory Over Hornets
The Washington Wizards moved up the preseason win column with a comeback win over the Charlotte Hornets 98-92. The Wizards are now 2-0 with both wins taking place at Capital One Arena.
Washington forward Kyle Kuzma dropped a game-high 19 points on 8-of-16 (.500) shooting, adding four rebounds and three assists to his stat line. Wizards rookie guard/forward Bilal Coulibaly netted 12 points (5-9 FG, 2-3 3PT), also grabbing five rebounds, one assist and one block to his stat line. The rookie also played the most minutes of the team with a little over 28 on the court.
Of note, the Wizards had five players with three assists displaying consistent ball moving and opportunities for the team to all get involved.
Charlotte Hornets Stats Leaders were Terry Rozier with 13 points and seven assists. Nick Richards had 12 rebounds.
The Wizards forced 23 Charlotte turnovers and outscoring the Hornets 21-11 in points off turnovers. The Wizards went on a 31-10 comeback prowl with 9:24 remaining in the game, outscoring the Hornets 35 to 17 in the fourth quarter.
Before the preseason game kicked off, Inside the Wizards Staff Writer David Harrison shared who was in and out for both teams in the contest.
For the Wizards, five players were inactive. Deni Avdija (back tightness), Patrick Baldwin Jr. (sore right knee), Taj Gibson (groin tightness), Anthony Gill (left hamstring strain), and Landry Shamet (fractured right great toe) were all out for the game.
For the Hornets, Gordan Hayward was out with right foot discomfort while Leaky Black, James Bouknight, Miles Bridges, Theo Maledon, and Cody Martin all did not travel with the team to Washington.
