The Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, were defeated by the Delaware Blue Coats, led by NBA All Star Slam Dunk Champion Mac McClung 125-124. Wizards rookie Johnny Davis scored a career-high 25 points in the loss.

This is big news and hopefully to the delight of many who were hoping to see more from Johnny Davis this season. Davis displayed strong three-point shooting, finishing 4-for-4 from the distance in the first half. Davis achieved 20 plus points for the first time in his career during the third quarter and would go on to finish the night with 25.

What a way for Davis to celebrate his 21st birthday then with a career night.

This is promising considering the extremely slow start to the season for Davis.

Inside the Wizards Staff Writer, Carita Parks, wrote earlier in the season about Davis’ visible struggles dating back to his Summer League performance. While struggling during the summer and preseason isn’t alarming, Parks wrote, the problem is that he hasn’t (at the time) taken huge strides to make up for it. He has only cracked the rotation a few times this season, playing 35 minutes overall for a total of six points thus far (at time of that article).

Davis’ G League performances continue to improve and hopefully it will at sometime soon translate to the NBA court.
