Commissioner Adam Silver Expected To Make Changes To NBA Draft
The stars of the NBA are on their last leg both literally and figuratively. If you look at LeBron James, the former number one pick seems like he could play forever as he is still dominating at a very high level in the NBA today. The only thing that may hurt him is his age and life itself. He has a family and one of his kids is on his way to the league soon. He will soon be 39 years of age, and he may be thinking about life after basketball now.
Even the great Kevin Durant is getting up there in age. He has been dealing with injuries a lot over the last couple of years. Although he has been healthy thus far this season, the feeling is it may only be a matter of time before he goes down like former Wizard guard who happens to be his teammate, Bradley Beal.
Stars are born through the draft. It doesn’t matter where you get them either. You can be a number one overall pick like Lebron James, a number two pick like Kevin Durant, number three like Bradley Beal, or even close to the second round in the number 30 pick like Jimmy Butler who too seems to be aging.
The upcoming NBA Drafts are very important for the Washington Wizards. They have traded their stars of yesterday for stars of the future over the summer this year. They now have a boat load of draft picks for the upcoming seasons. We already see it paying off the way Bilal Coulibaly has been playing this season.
The Commissioner of the NBA, Adam Silver, is trying his best to make the NBA Draft a two night event. This is something that will be similar to the way Roger Goodell and the NFL handle their draft. The first round of the draft will be on one night and the second round of the draft will be the next day. Gone will be the days of staying up late and dosing off trying to watch the entire NBA Draft one night before you have to go to work the next day. The NBA is evolving in the right direction too.
