Are you familiar with the phrase “You got the heart of a champion”? If not, you need to pay closer attention to former Wizard Russell Westbrook. You may think I’m crazy or foolish to mention Russell Westbrook as having the heart of a champion since he doesn’t have a championship of his own. Immediately thinking of Russ, you may think of turnovers.

Westbrook has turned the ball over a lot in his NBA Career. However, that is only due to the fact that he has the ball in his hands a lot and has heavily been depended on for every team he has played for. He has won the league MVP Award for a reason. It doesn’t end there! Russell Westbrook is a nine time NBA Allstar, led the league in assist three times, two time NBA Allstar MVP, two time NBA Scoring Champion, nine time ALL NBA, and included in the Top 75 players of all time in the NBA. He also has the most triple doubles in the NBA of all time surpassing the game’s greats such as Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson.

Playing in LA with the Clippers now, he has a reduced role off the bench for the club. This was a decision made by him. He saw the recent struggles of the team since acquiring all star guard James Harden. He figured he could help the team in this aspect and it has worked as the Clippers have now figured it out, particularly James Harden.

Russ has been the celebratory teammate throughout his career, especially with the Clippers. He went on to say "I genuinely enjoy seeing other people do better. That's really who I am... I'Il take all the bullets for anybody, l'll take all the heat, I don't really give a damn, because I know what's important to my teammate."

Russell Westbrook is the player that every team needs. He is the teammate that everyone wants too! He has won every major award throughout his career and the only thing that is missing on his resume is an NBA Championship. Russell Westbrook is hoping to add that to his resume soon. In the meantime, rather he is starting or coming off the bench, he is helping his team by any means necessary.
