From a fan’s perspective, many feel that they could make better decisions than the team when it comes to roster construction. The decision to trade Rui Hachimura brought in a lot of mixed emotions. Some felt it was time to do so. Others felt he had untapped potential. Some even felt like we haven’t even scratched the surface with Rui Hachimura during his tenure with the Wizards. And then there’s the notation that he probably should have been in starter with the Wizards.

There is no question that the LA Lakers won the trade when it comes to Rui Hachimura. He was a key piece in the title run as it ended last night. If it wasn’t for Rui, they wouldn’t have even made it as far as they did. Nobody expected the Lakers to even make the playoffs. The addition of Rui sort of shaped the Lakers into a playoff team as they only fell just four games from missing the NBA Finals.

Rui Hachimura was a spot starter in LA. Last night, he started and was the only starter who had a positive Player Efficiency Rating at +1. That’s better than the great Lebron James who gave it his all and played perhaps his best game of the entire postseason. Rui Hachimura is expected to hit the open market this summer as he will be a free agent. His play during this postseason is sure to offer him a lot of suitors. The question remains is this: Where will Hachimura play next season?
