Generally in basketball, the starters are the players that matter the most to each team. They are starters for a reason. They have earned the right to play more minutes than any other guys behind them on the depth chart. Sometimes guys are starters simply due to fit. It can be difficult to play two small guards in the backcourt a lot together. Other times, guys are starters because they play defense. There are two sides of the basketball and sometimes, some players just don’t register that into their heads.

Another time is when you’re an All Star, it’s simply hard to bench someone who has that under their belt. Other times, guys can become starters because they want to balance the scales and rotations. You may want to have some firepower coming off your bench. That was the case for Jordan Poole in Golden State with the Warriors. Klay Thompson had accomplished a lot and the Warriors wanted to balance the scales and have some elite scoring off the bench.

It was hard to have Jordan Poole as a full time starter there and he fully understands that too. With that being the case, Poole was still a very important piece to the puzzle there in Golden State and was essential to them winning on a daily basis.

The question that comes to mind is this- Are the Golden State Warriors missing Jordan Poole? They most certainly are and here’s why:

He was able to take the ball out of Steph Curry’s hands. Curry is asked to do a bit too much now at his age and it is showing with the end results we’re getting out of the Warriors. Klay isn’t the same either. He simply looks like a shell of himself and Jordan Poole should absolutely be starting over Klay if he was still with the Warriors. Lastly, the Warriors bench is suffering. Steph Curry is the only player on the team averaging over 20 points per game. The Warriors only have six players averaging double digits in scoring. Only one of them is coming off the bench. Jordan Poole has been missed tremendously in Golden State.
