Jordan Poole Displeased With Move To The Bench, What Happens Next
What may have been a long time coming finally happened when the Wizards were set to take on the Denver Nuggets on the road last night. The decision was made to have guard Jordan Poole come off of the bench and designate rookie Bilal Coulibaly to start in his place. Early on in the season, it was noted how Jordan Poole was building a close relationship with Coulibaly; even ensuring their lockers were next to one another. Their relationship appeared something that was similar to a mentorship. Now the rookie has taken his place in the starting lineup.
At the time of this article, it remains to be seen if this will continue on as the Wizards prepare to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight. However, the writing was on the wall that the starting role for Jordan Poole may not be the right thing to do at this time.
The Washington Post's Ava Wallace spoke to a displeased Jordan Poole postgame about the Wizards moving him to the bench. Poole shared this with Wallace, “if there's any common sense with the situation you should know how I feel but I'm just going to come out, do what I can do to help the team, keep it moving.”
Poole went on to say “I mean if this is a way to try to get me on ball. I guess that's just what we have to do.” Poole also said he feels he's proved his value in many different areas on the court and then further shared with Wallace that he can't do anything but control what he can control.
It will be interesting to see if this lineup change sticks and even more interesting to see if it makes a difference in the product on the court.
