The day many people had marked on their calendars have finally came and gone. Last night, we finally discovered where the Washington Wizards will be selecting in this upcoming 2023 NBA Draft. After the NBA Lottery, the Wizards came up with the number eight overall pick. While this wasn’t a surprise since they only had a 6.7% chance at getting the number one overall pick, this has to feel a bit disappointing being at the back half of the top ten.

At this time, decisions will have to be made in the future rather the Wizards should remain at number eight or move up somehow into the top five at least. While the minds of the decision makers in Washington are brewing, they still have to figure out who the next General Manager will be. But if you’re in charge of the Washington Wizards, will a trade moving up in the NBA Draft make sense?

Teams are already making decisions and testing the waters. We know the San Antonio Spurs are going to draft Victor Wembanyama. He has France ties to former Spurs such as Tony Parker and Boris Diaw. We know the Charlotte Hornets may not need a guard since they have LaMelo Ball. They could very well take the wing player Brandon Miller from Alabama. News has already broke that the Portland Trailblazers are looking to make a deal.

With these possible scenarios, if the Wizards were to make a deal with the Portland Trailblazers, that could land them a point guard many people felt could be the number one overall pick if it wasn’t for the French Sensation in Scoot Henderson. This could be the guard the Wizards desperately need and could even be the next franchise player to lead this team back into the playoffs. The Wizards HAVE to make a call to Portland!
