'No One's Happy' Following Wizards Third Loss to Start February
The Washington Wizards ran off six wins to end the month of January but have now lost three in a row to begin the month of February.
Not only are the Wizards losing, but only one of those has been closer than an eight-point spread.
"Obviously no one's happy that we're in this position," coach Wes Unseld Jr. said following a 23-point loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night. "This is not an easy situation, certainly not ideal."
The situation that is less than easy to deal with currently involves the lack of availability regarding key players like guard Bradley Beal and forward Kyle Kuzma, both of whom missed Monday's contest.
"Hopefully we can get healthy but we don't want to dwell too much on this three-game skid," Unseld continued when turning the focus to Wednesday's game against the Charlotte Hornets. "We gotta learn from it...Sometimes those are hard lessons, but I think it's important to take something from it and learn."
With Beal and Kuzma out against Cleveland, guard Will Barton played more minutes than he has in the last 30 days, and rookie guard Johnny Davis got six.
It was the most minutes played by Davis since he had six against the Miami Heat back on November 23rd.
Wednesday will be the fourth time Washington faces the Hornets, winning two of the first three.
The only loss came on December 2nd, a one-point loss with both Beal and Kuzman on the court.
Kuzma was the team's leading scorer in both of their wins over Charlotte.
With it looking unlikely Kuzma returns for Wednesday, Unseld Jr. and his Wizards squad will hope some of those lessons inspire quick growth, as they look to avoid a four-game losing streak.
Another loss would lead to the team's longest losing streak since it broke a ten-game skid mid-December.
