Wizards on Collision Course with History vs. Lebron James and Lakers

At the end of the month, the Washington Wizards will visit the Los Angeles Lakers who could be celebrating a pretty special moment to end February.

The Washington Wizards have seen their fair share of teams celebrating big moments in games against them this season.

At one point Wizards forward Deni Avdija was even asked about the Capital One Arena crowd feeling like a home audience for some of the visiting teams.

So it's no surprise that when Washington has to face teams on the road the environment is even less supportive of the current roster's efforts.

If the Wizards feel alone on road games now, wait until they arrive to face the Los Angeles Lakers on February 29th.

Because, if all goes well, NBA legend Lebron James will be hunting even more history as he tries to become the first player in league history to reach 40,000 points scored in his career.

James already has the all-time leading scorer record in the NBA and after his team's loss on Sunday to the Phoenix Suns the future Hall of Famer sits just 74 points from 40k.

Averaging 25 points per game so far this season it seems to reason James will probably hit that mark at home against the Denver Nuggets. And to be fair, that game will be at home and Lakers fans probably wouldn't hate to see it happen against the defending champions and Western Conference rival.

Still, if James can score 30-40 in Wednesday's contest against the Los Angeles Clippers then he'll be right around that same mark from hitting 40,000 against the Wizards. And that too would be in front of the home crowd, and more likely to come in a victory as well.

James hasn't played the Wizards yet this season, but last season he scored a combined 88 points in his two games against a better team. So all he needs to be is within range.

Sad News For The Washington Wizards

After scoring 30 or more three times already against the Clippers, it's likely he will be.

So if you ask the team, the public relations staff, and even the fans, they may just as well have it come two games from now, not three.

Quite the way to take advantage of a leap day, if you ask us.
