Why Isn’t Johnny Davis Playing?
When you acquire something of value in life, you tend to use it often. If you remember, Sony had customers in an uproar when the Playstation 5 released. It was extremely difficult for one to get their hands on that console. When the consumer finally gets a hold of a Playstation 5 for themselves, they play it quite often and if they aren’t gaming, they watching a movie or streaming something of interest. They are utilizing their possession of value.
Opinion: Washington Wizards Need to be Playing Johnny Davis
You would think that the Washington Wizards would be utilizing their possession of value. Last year, the Wizards drafted Johnny Davis from the University of Wisconsin. He was clearly the Badgers best player. You would think he would instantly have success in the NBA with the Wizards. However, to have success in the NBA, you have to be given the opportunity. Early last season, the Wizards didn’t give him the chance to be successful. Once the Wizards were out of the playoff race, that's when the Wizards gave him an opportunity. He took full advantage of that chance and played well for the Wizards. In fact, he played so well, Johnny came into this season with high expectations. This may feel like deja vu because the Wizards are once again not giving the former Wisconsin Badger any playing time. The real question is why is this the case?
Head Coach Wes Unseld Jr has stated on the record the number of guards and wings on this team. He mentioned there’s a log jam there and that is why we haven’t seen much of Johnny Davis this season.
It will remain to be seen if Johnny Davis’ minutes will increase. He was the number ten overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Head Coach Wes Unseld Jr has to find a way to increase minutes for Davis especially since he is a player of value being drafted so high. High expectations are due for Davis, but he can’t meet or even exceed them if he isn’t given the opportunity by this coaching staff.
