Will The Wizards Regret Trading The Future Hall Of Famer?
The NBA is back. Technically, basketball is back. Although the regular season hasn’t begun, we are already blessed with some preseason action. The Washington Wizards are yet to take the floor. Their first preseason match up will be this Thursday October 12th at home against the Charlotte Hornets.
We have already seen two former Washington Wizards who are sure to make the hall of fame play in the preseason for their respected teams. Those two players are Bradley Beal and Chris Paul. They both have been considered team leaders and floor generals throughout their careers. When they are on the floor, there’s a good chance the team will have a positive efficiency level and that the team is playing up to their standard too.
Moving on from Bradley Beal may have been the most hardest decision for this franchise to make. He is arguably the best Washington Wizard of all time. However, trading away Chris Paul and not even giving him an opportunity to suit up and play for the Wizards will be a tough pill to swallow as well.
Chris Paul debuted with his new team, the Golden State Warriors just the other day. Even at age 38, he has been inserted into their starting lineup and looked pretty good too. He stuffed the stat sheet scoring six points, five assist, and four rebounds. Will the Washington Wizards regret trading the 12x All Star?
Trading a player of that stature is certainly a decision no one wants to make. However, this was a move the Wizards HAD to make. Paul is on his way out. This could very well be his last season in the NBA. The Wizards got tremendous value in Jordan Poole for Chris Paul. They will be missing Paul’s on floor leadership. However, the NBA is going younger. All of yesterday’s stars are aging and are counting down their days in the NBA. Poole has an extremely long and bright future ahead of him and he is truly considered a franchise player already for this new look young Washington Wizards team.
