Larry Johnson
Johnson hurt his foot against the Packers in Week 9, but that's no excuse for his subpar play before that. He has just 3.5 yards per carry after averaging 4.3 ypc in 2006 and 5.2 ypc in '05.
Travis Henry
Henry entered the season with huge expectations after running for 1,211 yards with the Titans last year. He was supposed to be the Broncos' next 1,500-yard rusher, but has had injury problems (knee) and hasn't made the most of his opportunities when in the lineup.
Steven Jackson
Before the season, Jackson talked about rushing for over 2,000 yards. He has been slowed by back and groin injuries and has just 350 yards rushing in five games and is averaging just 3.5 yards per carry. Last season, he ran for 1,528 yards and averaged 4.4 yards per carry.
Frank Gore
After rushing for 1,695 yards last season, Gore has just 507 yards in eight games. He's been struggling with a sprained ankle, but even when he's playing he's not the same guy as last year. Part of the problem is the Niners' lack of a passing game. But Gore has also had a hard time getting the tough yards this year.
Ahman Green
Green has just 260 yards in six games and has been battling a sore knee. The 30-year-old running back has had trouble staying healthy the last couple of years and does not appear to be the Texans' answer at running back.
Cedric Benson
The Bears traded away last year's starter Thomas Jones and handed over the reins to the No. 4 overall pick in 2005. Benson has been a bust, averaging just 3.0 yards per carry through nine games.
Carnell Williams
Williams hasn't knocked the perception that he's not durable enough for the NFL. After getting off to a slow start this season, he tore his patellar tendon in Week 4 against the Panthers, ending his season.
Thomas Jones
He entered the season with huge expectations after coming over from the Bears, but he's been ineffective, in part because of a preseason ankle injury. He has 606 yards through nine games and is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry.
Shaun Alexander
He's been slowed by a sprained knee and has been ineffective when in the lineup. The 2005 MVP has 492 yards rushing in eight games this season and will likely share time with Maurice Morris when he's healthy enough to come back.
Rudi Johnson
Johnson has missed action with a strained groin, but even when he was healthy, he was ineffective for the Bengals. He's averaging 2.6 yards per carry and appears to be losing his primary role to Kenny Watson.
