Something for the Seahawks to consider when they face the 49ers again in Week 16: Don't kick to Ted Ginn.

Ginn put on a dazzling display late in San Francisco's Week 1 win over Seattle, returning a kickoff 102 yards for a touchdown with 3:45 left, then taking a punt back 55 yards for another score just 59 seconds later. The amazing effort came right after Seattle had closed within two after trailing 16-0 at halftime. But Ginn quickly turned the 49ers' tenuous 19-17 lead into an easy 33-17 win.

The kickoff return was also the third for a touchdown in Week 1, despite rampant concerns that a change in the league's rules would severely limit that part of the game. The kickoff yard-line was bumped up from the 30 to the 35 to try and protect players involved in those special teams plays.

But Green Bay's Randall Cobb tied an NFL record with a 108-yard return in Thursday's season opener and Percy Harvin took the opening kick of Sunday's Minnesota loss at San Diego back 103 yards for a score.

Ginn entered Sunday with four career return touchdowns, two each on punts and kickoffs -- he had a 78-yard kick return TD for the 49ers last season.

The huge Week 1 performance might ease some of the criticism Ginn's taken in San Francisco. He was a colossal disappointment in 2010 after coming to the 49ers from the Dolphins, catching just 12 balls for 163 yards and a touchdown all season.
