Jan. 14, 1973

The Dolphins beat Washington 14-7 in Super Bowl VII in Los Angeles, completing a 17-0 season -- the only perfect record in NFL history. Safety Jake Scott intercepted two passes and became the first defensive back to be named MVP in a Super Bowl.

Jan. 13, 1974

The Dolphins steamroll the Vikings 24-7 for their second straight Super Bowl championship as Larry Csonka rushes for 145 yards and two TDs. So dominant is Miami's rushing game (196 yards) that Bob Griese only has to throw seven passes -- he completes six. Miami won its three playoff games by an average of 17 points.

Dec, 25, 1971

Garo Yepremian's 37-yard field goal in the second overtime ended the longest game in pro football history and gave the Dolphins a 27-24 Christmas Day win over the Chiefs in Kansas City in an AFC semifinal playoff game that lasted 82 minutes and 40 seconds. This was Miami's first postseason win in franchise history.

Nov. 14, 1993

The Dolphins defeat Philadelphia 19-14 to give coach Don Shula a record 325th NFL victory, one better than George Halas. Shula will finish his career with a record 347 wins.

Feb. 17, 1970

Miami hires away Baltimore Colts coach Don Shula to run a franchise that has only known losing seasons since its birth in 1966. Shula immediately turns the Dolphins around, reaching the playoffs in his first four years, including three straight Super Bowls and championships following the '72 and '73 seasons. Shula later leads Miami to Super Bowl berths following the '82 and '84 seasons.

Jan. 2, 1982

Backup quarterback Don Strock comes off the bench in relief of starter David Woodley at the Orange Bowl and leads the Dolphins back from a 24-0 deficit against the Chargers in the highest-scoring playoff game in NFL history. Strock passes for 403 yards and four touchdowns. Unfortunately, Rolf Benirschke's 29-yard field goal in overtime gives San Diego a 41-38 victory.

Sept. 22, 1991

Don Shula wins his 300th game as the Dolphins defeat Green Bay 16-13. Shula joins the immortal George Halas as the only two NFL coaches to reach the 300-win plateau. By the time he retires in January 1996, Shula has the best record in league history (347-173-6, including the postseason). (Photo from different game in 1991)

Nov. 24, 1977

Bob Griese passes for six touchdowns and the Dolphins set a franchise record for points in a single game in lambasting the Cardinals 55-14 on Thanksgiving Day in St. Louis.
