Perhaps no play from the Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl run will be more remembered than Jacoby Jones' astounding, last-minute 70-yard touchdown catch against the Denver Broncos. And the Broncos no doubt had the failings of their secondary on their minds when they handed a one-year, $5 million contract to Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on Wednesday night.

Rodgers-Cromartie, soon to be 27 years old, was considered one of the league's most promising young defensive backs in three seasons with Arizona. But a trade sent him to Philadelphia, and Rodgers-Cromartie hit the wall -- he endured his first interception-less season in 2011.

He bounced back slightly last season on the statistical front, nabbing three picks. Rodgers-Cromartie remained an extremely disappointing commodity, though, to the point that Philadelphia barely even considered re-signing him.

The Broncos are not showing an extreme amount of faith either, what with the one-year offer and all. Still, if Rodgers-Cromartie rediscovers any of his old form, he should help out a secondary that struggled to find consistent playmakers opposite Champ Bailey.

While Chris Harris emerged as a surprising contributor, Tony Carter and especially Tracy Porter endured up-and-down campaigns.

Rodgers-Cromartie is about as talented as they come at the cornerback position. To help the Broncos out, he'll need to show off a lot more of that ability than he did in Philadelphia.

Grade: B-minus.
