How did Sharrif Floyd make it all the way down here? An almost unanimous consensus in the past weeks had Floyd going No. 3 to Oakland -- only late discussions started to shift minds away from that call.

But even with the Raiders passing on Floyd, there figured to be another team that would want the talented Florida defensive tackle before Minnesota hit the clock. And so, it was almost a no-brainer for the Vikings to nab him.

One of the clear missions for the Vikings in this draft (and, specifically, with one of their two first-round picks) was to add some youth and versatility to an aging defensive front. Floyd, ranked by just about everyone as a top-10 talent, fits the bill on both counts.

He's an extremely aggressive player off the snap, usually making hay by simply beating blockers on his first move. This part of his game should only get better as he settles in at the NFL level -- Florida shifted him around a ton to take advantage of him.

This is a steal for the Vikings this late in Round 1.

Grade: A.
