W Conn RB sets NCAA record with 455 yards rushing
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- Octavias McKoy ran for 455 yards to set an NCAA record for all-divisions in Division III Western Connecticut State's 55-35 victory over Worcester State on Saturday.
McKoy scored five touchdowns in a game for the third time this season. He broke the rushing record previously held by Dante Brown of Marietta College. Brown ran for 441 on Oct. 5, 1996, against Baldwin-Wallace.
McKoy, a senior, had 43 carries. He scored from 15, 1, 41, 53 and 71 yards out and has 23 TDs on the season.
LaDainian Tomlinson holds the FBS record with 406 yards for Texas Christian against UTEP on Nov. 20, 1999.
