Sidney Rice's 2013 season may have come to an end.

The Seattle Seahawks gained just 135 total yards in their 14-9 win over the St. Louis Rams on Monday night, and an offense that is struggling despite the team's 7-1 record just got some more bad news. The team announced Tuesday that Sidney Rice suffered a torn ACL in the game and will miss the rest of the season. The news was first reported by Pro Football Talk. He had 15 catches for 231 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said after the game that Rice had concussion symptoms and a knee issue, though the serious nature of this injury was not likely known at the time. Rice left the Rams game in the second quarter with no catches, though he had been targeted three times.

This is the latest in a long line of injuries for the talented receiver, who was selected in the second round of the 2007 draft out of South Carolina by the Minnesota Vikings and signed a five-year, $41 million contract with the Seahawks in July 2011. He is due $8.5 million in base salary in 2014, and there was speculation that unless he had a breakout season in 2013, he was a candidate for release.

Sadly, that breakout didn't happen. Rice has started 31 games in his three Seattle seasons, catching 97 passes for 1,463 yards and 12 touchdowns. He missed seven games in 2011, played all 16 games in 2012 and will see this season end after eight games.

The Seahawks are still waiting for receiver Percy Harvin to make his debut with the team -- Harvin was acquired in an offseason trade with the Vikings and is recovering from a hip injury. For now, Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin will be Russell Wilson's primary targets. The Seahawks face the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Seattle's CenturyLink Field.
