With the Miami Dolphins' season rapidly unraveling amid mounting losses and the messy Jonathan Martin situation, fans are turning up the heat on GM Jeff Ireland and head coach Joe Philbin.
Ireland was targeted specifically in the hours before Miami's game with San Diego on Sunday. As the teams began to arrive for warmups, a plane circled over Sun Life Stadium pulling a banner addressing owner Stephen Ross. It read: "MR ROSS WE TOLD YOU SO 2 YEARS AGO #FIREIRELAND!"
The Dolphins have lost five of their past six games to fall to 4-5 on the season. Worse yet, the franchise has been rocked by Martin's claims that his teammate, Richie Incognito, bullied him -- Martin left the team prior to its Week 9 game, while Incognito remains suspended indefinitely.
Ireland took over as the team's general manager prior to the 2008 season. The Dolphins made the playoffs in ensuing season, but they have not finished .500 or above since.
