Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, who totaled nearly 2,000 yards from scrimmage this season, left his team's wild-card game against the Colts after just three carries with a concussion. The team initially announced Charles was questionable to return while he underwent evaluation in the locker room, then downgraded him to an "out" status.

Charles appeared to slam his head into the turf after being tackled by the Colts' 332-pound defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton. Kansas City's star stayed down, relatively immobile after the hit, then walked to the locker room after meeting with trainers.
