INDIANAPOLIS -- Teddy Bridgewater, the potential No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, will not participate in passing drills at the NFL scouting combine, the San Francisco Chroniclereported. The Louisville superstar joins Johnny Manziel and Derek Carr, as well as injured quarterbacks Aaron Murray and Zach Mettenberger, in not throwing at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Bridgewater came into the weekend undecided about his plans for Sunday's quarterback workout. Blake Bortles, previously dubbed a "game-time decision," and A.J. McCarron, who initially planned to wait until his Pro Day to air it out, both will compete here.

The decision to throw or not may matter most in the court of public opinion. Teams will have additional opportunities to view these prospects at Pro Days (Bridgewater, Manziel, Murray and Carr all plan to throw at their respective outings), as well as during any individual workouts scheduled once the combine wraps.

Still, not taking part in the combine drills will strip Bridgewater of an opportunity to begin cementing his status as a top draft pick. Minimal harm comes of a quarterback hopeful's stock with a shaky combine performance, but putting on a show in a tough situation -- and with unfamiliar receivers running routes -- certainly can open the eyes of some scouts and coaches.
