March 5, 2014 — 2014 NFL Mock Draft 2.0 (Doug Farrar)

Round 1, pick 11: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh

We said: It wouldn’t be a surprise to most if Donald went in the top 10, but if he lasts this long, Titans defensive coordinator Ray Horton — one of the NFL’s most aggressive and diverse play-callers — would have a field day given Donald’s power, playmaking skills and versatility. At 6-1 and 285 pounds, Donald added a transcendent combine performance to a very strong week at the Senior Bowl, and reams of Pitt tape show that he’s the real deal. Few interior linemen possess his speed off the snap.

Round 1, pick 11: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama

We said: Either Clinton-Dix or Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley would drop right into the starting lineup … and Anthony Barr’s still on the board as well. The Crimson Tide safety would provide Tennessee with necessary help over the top, something that was lacking in 2013.

Round 2, pick 42: Carlos Hyde, RB, Ohio State

We said: With Chris Johnson’s days in Tennessee looking numbered, the Titans take the first RB off the board.

Round 1, pick 11: Anthony Barr, OLB-DE, UCLA

We said: The Titans have needs that fit nicely with their spot atop the draft's second 10, and in our scenario they can choose between an offensive tackle such as Michigan's Taylor Lewan, a safety such as Alabama's Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, or pro-ready receivers like Mike Evans of Texas A&M and USC's Marqise Lee. But Barr offers impact edge rush ability, and those guys remain at a premium in the NFL. Given that Tennessee has been seeking to generate more heat on the opposing passer for a while now, Barr's potential value should be greater than that of the alternatives.

Round 1, pick 11: Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA

We said: If the Titans don’t go quarterback here (and they very well might), perhaps an edge rusher would fit the bill. Barr still needs a bit of finishing work, but he absolutely explodes off the tape. Barr comes off the ball well inside and outside, has tremendous flexibility and strength, and he could be even scarier once he gets into an NFL training program.

Jan. 9, 2014 -- 2014 NFL Mock Draft 4.0 (Chris Burke)

Round 1, pick 11: C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama

We said: There is a prevailing belief out there — with some evidence to back it up — that Alabama players hit their ceilings before arriving in the NFL. Here’s the thing with Mosley, however: If he’s already at his ceiling, he still can slot in and be an impact defender.

Offensive tackle is another option here. The Titans also have two huge wild cards in safety Bernard Pollard and CB Alterraun Verner, both pending free agents. Losing either could bump that vacated position to the top of their draft board.

Dec. 5, 2013 -- 2014 NFL Mock Draft 3.1 (Chris Burke)

Round 1, pick 12: Louis Nix III, DT, Notre Dame

We said: Jurrell Casey is enjoying a monster 2013 season. Drop Nix in next to him on the interior of the line, and the Titans would have a DT combo to rival those of the likes of Detroit and Cincinnati. Tennessee would be set at tackle for years to come.

Round 1, pick 16: Antonio Richardson, OT, Tennessee

We said: The Titans upgraded the interior of their line prior to 2013, so it only makes sense to beef up on the edges before 2014. The current starting tackles, Michael Roos and David Stewart, are 30 and 31 years old, respectively. Both have voidable years on their contracts upcoming, too.
