The Chargers defense got a big boost Friday, re-signing linebacker Donald Butler to a multiyear deal.
Butler first announced the deal on Twitter. "Feeling blessed! Y'all heard it here first! Deal is done!! SD I aint going no where!! Too excited!!"
The Chargers' linebacker was Greg Bedard's 46th-ranked free agent. "Didn’t have a great season in 2013," Bedard wrote. "But Butler was a good player the previous two seasons. His battle with injuries will keep the price tag down." Terms of the deal weren't immediately available. San Diego was the 23rd-ranked defense last season in terms of yards allowed.
