Titans running back Chris Johnson reportedly willing to take a pay cut

Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson would be willing to take a pay cut to facilitate a trade out of Tennessee, Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo reported Thursday (via Pro Football Talk).

The Titans are reportedly looking to trade Johnson and free themselves of his $10 million cap hit next season. If they cannot find any trade partners, they reportedly intend to cut him.

Johnson hasn't been the same since a breakout season in 2009, during which he rushed for more than 2,000 yards. He hasn't rushed for more than 1,364 yards in any season since, and in 2013 he averaged a career-low 3.9 yards per attempt while rushing for 1,077 yards.

Johnson has also been criticized for his attitude toward the organization. Former Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck recently ripped Johnson in an interview with ESPN.com’s Paul Kuharsky:

“He’s a friend of mine but when it comes to athlete, he’s a ‘me’ person. He’s a ‘me’ person when it comes to the athlete. For the years that he’s been there, it’s never been his fault why he didn’t have a good running game or why he didn’t have a good game. It was always somebody else’s fault.”
